Japan Candy Box: October 2018 / Halloween Party + Giveaway

Sou meio sugar freak, por isso fico sempre muito entusiasmada com estas caixinhas recheadas de doces. Este mês chegou até mim a Japan Candy Box de outubro, edição especial de Halloween — “Halloween Party”. Para além de partilhar as coisas boas (ou não tão boas) que provei, tenho também uma caixa para vos oferecer! O sorteio termina dia 22 de Novembro e é internacional. I'm kind of a sugar freak, so I'm always excited about these candy-filled little boxes. This month, the October Japan Candy Box came to me, a Halloween Special Edition - "Halloween Party". Se já seguem o blog há algum tempo, provavelmente já estão familiarizados com o conceito da Japan Candy Box. É uma caixa de subscrição mensal recheada de doces e snacks japoneses (geralmente 8 a 10). A subscrição pode ser cancelada a qualquer momento e, a subscrição de apenas um mês tem o valor de $19,90.

Todos os meses a Japan Candy Box ensina uma palavra japonesa. A deste mês é Kabocha: Pumpkin.

If you've been following the blog for some time, you're probably already familiar with the Japan Candy Box concept. It's a monthly subscription box filled with Japanese sweets and snacks (usually 8-10). The subscription can be canceled at any time and, the subscription of only one month has the value of $19.90. Every month the Japan Candy Box teaches a Japanese word. This month's word is Kabocha: Pumpkin.

Halloween Caramel Corn

-Popular snack-

"Tohato has made these famous caramel corn treats since 1971. This special Halloween edition has pumpkin pudding flavor."

Começo por este snack precisamente por ser o meu favorito de sempre (o resto não está por ordem). Já tinha provado em algumas edições anteriores e fiquei imediatamente rendida. É estaladiço e sabe a caramelo e milho. É maravilhoso! Esta edição especial de Halloween tem um ligeiro toque a “pumpkin pudding flavor”, para além do packaging alusivo. Continuam igualmente maravilhosos e este pacote traz bastante quantidade, ao contrário dos anteriores que recebi. Não importa, porque desapareceram demasiado rápido. / I start with this snack precisely because it is my favorite ever (the rest is not in order). I had previously tasted it and loved it immediately. It is crispy and tastes like caramel and corn. It is wonderful! This special Halloween edition has a "pumpkin pudding flavor", in addition to the allusive packaging. They are still wonderful and this package has a lot, but it doesn't matter, because they disappeared too quickly.

Skeleton Ramune Candy

-Dagashi-

"This coffin shaped box contains ramune flavored candies shaped like bones. They are like puzzle pieces which can be assembled into a human skeleton."

Depois de experimentar algumas candy boxes, já cheguei à conclusão que os doces “ramune” (criados a partir de refrigerantes) não são os meus favoritos. Este caixão é todo fofinho, e adorei todo o packaging e conceito. O interior são ossos que podem ser conectados, criando um esqueleto humano. Eu, feita tonta, fui logo a correr provar e quando percebi que podia ser montado, já me faltavam ossos. Quanto ao sabor e textura, não gostei mesmo, infelizmente. Não sei descrever, mas achei desagradável. Pontos para a embalagem! É fofa e vou guardá-la. / After trying some candy boxes, I have come to the conclusion that the "ramune" sweets (made from sodas) are not my favorites. This coffin is all cute, and I loved all the packaging and concept. The inside are bones that can be connected, creating a human skeleton. I went straight to eat it and when I realized that it could be put together, I was already missing bones. As for the taste and texture, I did not really like it, unfortunately. I can not describe it, but I found it unpleasant. Points for the packaging! It's cute and I'll keep it.

Lotte Toppo Halloween Cookie Sticks

-Traditional flavor-

"This is a limited Halloween edition of Lotte's Toppo cookie sticks. The crispy cookie sticks are filled with a delicious milk chocholate."

Este género de cookie sticks não costumam desiludir. Nem foi o caso! São deliciosos sticks recheados de chocolate. Adoro chocolate (todo o género de chocolate, sadly) e gostei bastante, apesar de já ter experimentado sticks japoneses ainda melhores, como os pocky de morango, yummy! / This kind of cookie sticks do not usually disappoint. Nor was the case! They are delicious sticks stuffed with chocolate. I love chocolate (all sorts of chocolate, sadly) and I liked it a lot, although I already have tried Japanese sticks even better, like the strawberry pocky, yummy!

Coris Mizuame DIY Flavor Change Candy

-DIY Candy-

Os DIY costumam ser engraçados. Este doce consistia apenas em misturar os três diferentes sabores que vêm nas saquetas criando um sabor mistério: uva. Confesso que não gostei muito. O sabor a uva é muito comum em doces japoneses e está longe de ser o meu favorito. A textura também não me seduziu! / The DIY's are usually quite amusing. This candy consisted only in mixing the three different flavors that come in sachets, creating a mystery flavor: grape. I did not like it very much. The grape flavor is very common in Japanese sweets and is far from my favorite. The texture did not seduce me either!

Marukawa Witch Mystery Gum

-Chewing Gum-

"The witch is brewing mystery flavors. Can you guess what will come next? By comining all 5 flavors the taste disappears."

Este pacote traz pastilhas elásticas de cinco diferentes sabores. A parte de trás da embalagem tem as instruções de que misturas fazer, pois, o resultado será sempre um sabor novo (toranja, maçã, mel e mais alguns). Gostei imenso! Aliás, julgo que são meio viciantes e é engraçado fazer as misturas. Difícil é parar! / This package contains chewing gum with five different flavors. The back of the package has the instructions of what mixes to make, therefore, the result will always be a new flavor (grapefruit, apple, honey and some more). I really enjoyed it! In fact, I think they're kind of addictive and it's fun to mix. Difficult to stop!

Koala's March Cookies Halloween Edition

"This special Halloween edition of Koala's March has special Halloween designs on both the box and the cookies!"

Esta embalagem adorável tem pequenas bolachas com a figura de um Koala. Simplesmente adoráveis e deliciosas! O recheio é de chocolate e escusado será dizer que foram devoradas. A parte de trás da embalagem tem uma espécie de DIY para os mais novos (que eu acabei por não fazer), que ao recortar dá para fazer um laçarote. Cute and delicious. / This adorable package has small cookies with the shape of a Koala. Simply lovely and delicious! The stuffing is chocolate and needless to say they were devoured. The back of the package has a kind of DIY for the younger ones (which I did not end up doing), which when cutting it, you can make a little bow. Cute and delicious.

Halloween Umaibo Snack Stick

"Umaibo or "delicious stick" are popular puffed corn snacks available in countless flavors. This special Halloween edition tastes like authentic Japanese corn potage soup."

Também já tive oportunidade de experimentar este género de stick de milho anteriormente. Tenho mixed feelings sobre eles. Gosto, mas, ao mesmo tempo, não acho nada de mais. Este primeiro até me agradou. Existem com diferentes sabores e este (supostamente) sabe a “corn potage soup”, sopa que nunca provei, mas que provavelmente vou gostar, se o sabor for idêntico a este snack stick. / I have also had the opportunity to try this kind of corn stick previously. I have mixed feelings about them. I like it, but at the same time, I do not think they're amazing. This first one pleased me. There are different flavors and this one (supposedly) is the "corn potage soup", which I have never tasted, but I will probably like if the taste is identical to this snack stick.

Halloween Sweet Candy

-Traditional treat-

"This is a traditional Japanese brown sugar treat that has been popular in Japan for generations. This version features a special Halloween packaging."

Este já não é bem igual (a foto do interior do doce está acima), é de açúcar amarelo e é essencialmente a isso que sabe. É muito esponjoso e confesso que não achei nada de extraordinário. O stick anterior era bem melhor! / This is not quite the same (the picture inside the candy is above), it is made with yellow sugar and it is essentially what it tastes like. It is very spongy and I confess that I did not find it anything extraordinary. The previous stick was a lot better!

Monster Stamp Candy & Marukawa Witch Color Change Gum

-Dagashi-

"Lick these monster candies and use them as stamps or eat them just like normal candy. Each of them features different spooky icons!"

"This cola flavored gum will change the color of your tongue to red or black when you chew it. Play some tricks with your friends!"

Por fim tenho dois doces “dagashi” (doces e snacks baratos). Os primeiros doces são, essencialmente, rebuçados com formato de carimbo. Têm formatos engraçados e, ao lamber a superfície, é possível usá-los como carimbos. Não funciona muito bem e prefiro mesmo comê-los! Têm sabores e carinhas diferentes e, em geral, são agradáveis. Uns sabores são melhores que outros. O segundo é uma pastilha elástica de sabor a coca-cola que já tinha provado antes. Pode deixar a língua vermelha ou preta (a minha ficou preta). Gostei! / At last, I have two "dagashi" sweets (cheap sweets and snacks). The first candies have funny shapes and, when licking the surface, it is possible to use them as stamps. It does not work very well and I'd rather eat them! They have different flavors and faces and are pleasant. Some flavors are better than others. The second is a chewing gum flavored with Coca Cola that I had tasted before. It can make your tongue red or black (mine turned black). I liked it!

As velas de Halloween (a abóbora e o copo com aranhas) foram compradas no Lidl.
